Art Contest

We cordially invite artists around the realm, whether they create drawings, paintings, sculptures, or other crafts, to showcase their talents at Fan Festival. Design your best representation of FINAL FANTASY XIV, the realm of Eorzea, its peoples or landscapes, or anything found within that strikes a creative chord and prepare to reveal it to your fellow fans! If your work is chosen, you just might earn yourself some amazing prizes!

The Art Contest is separated into five categories:

"Life in Eorzea": depict a non-combat related daily activity or role-play scenario
"My Adventure": depict a courageous and/or exciting scene
"Favorite Character": depict your favorite non-player character or monster
"Comic Strip": depict any scenario in a 3-4 panel strip
"Crafts & Sculptures": any physical object that is not a 2D drawing

Once we receive all qualifying entries, we’ll choose up to 50 finalists to display on our Art Gallery at Fan Festival 2014! Then your fellow attendees will get the chance to choose the five grand prize winners by popular vote. The winners then will be announced and awarded live on stage!

Please note, that any entrants that do not attend the Las Vegas Fan Festival must be legal residents of the U.S. and Canada (excluding Quebec), and over the age of 13. Full Official Contest Rules and Guidelines are available here, so start on your masterpiece now!

Wednesday, September 17, 2014 through Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. (PDT)

The FFXIV Development and Operations Teams will select up to 50 finalists based on creativity and overall execution according to the criteria listed above. Las Vegas Fan Festival attendees will select the ultimate winners based on their own voting criteria at the event.

Winners will be announced on or around October 19, 2014.

Five (5) Grand Prize winners, one (1) from each of the categories listed above, will be awarded with a FFXIV art print signed by the Art Team. If the winner is not in attendance, the additional prize will be shipped to the address listed in their contest entry information.

All finalists chosen to have their work displayed at the show will receive an Ahriman Choker in-game item.

Entrants are limited to a single entry
Entries can be submitted digitally. Finalists will be displayed at the event
Digital images entries must be either a .bmp, or a .png; at a high resolution (minimum 150 dpi)

You may use image editing software to alter, enhance or otherwise style your entry
Physical items will not be returned to the submitter
A Fan Festival Ticket is not needed to submit entries
All submissions become the property of Square Enix when entered into the contest
Attendees do not need to be in attendance to be eligible for a prize
All entries will be considered, but only finalists will be chosen by Square Enix and physically displayed during Fan Festival

When submitting your art entries, you must upload your image to an external website and provide us a link to view and download your art (such as Flickr, Imgur, etc.) Please note that some image hosting websites, such as Flickr, will delete images when an account is inactive for a certain amount of time, so make sure to verify this when choosing a site to host your entry image.

One entry per person. If multiple entries are posted, only the first submission will be valid.
You must be a legal resident of the United States or Canada (excluding Quebec) and over the age of 13 to be eligible to win.
Square Enix reserves the right to judge whether or not material is appropriate for public display in its sole discretion.

Any entries that fall under any of the below categories will be disqualified:

Entry containing obscenity, vulgarity, discrimination, or any other offensive subject matter;
Infringements upon copyright/intellectual property, personal credit, privacy, etc.;
Counter to public order and/or morals;
Submissions with content judged to be grossly deviant from the established theme

Costume Contest

Fans of the FINAL FANTASY series create costumes that are second to none, and FFXIV fans are no exception! While we’ve already seen a bevy of examples floating about the community, we’re excited at the prospects to see even more amazing outfits at our Fan Festival 2014 Costume Contest. Don’t forget, contestants are eligible for great prizes and fun opportunities to show off their costumes as well!

Attendees entering the Costume Contest need to check in on-site and be evaluated by our esteemed judging panel. Of all the entries, up to 30 qualifying finalists will be chosen to present themselves on stage for a chance at great prizes!

Only FINAL FANTASY XIV-related costumes are allowed to enter
- Non FFXIV costumes are okay to wear, but cannot be entered in the contest
- Please avoid costumes unaffiliated with Square Enix products
Limited to a single entry per person
Costumes cannot be dangerous to the wearer or others and as such we will not allow the following pieces to enter Fan Festival 2014:
- Sharpened, pointed, or dangerous metal objects (at the discretion of Square Enix staff)
- Large heavy blunt objects
- Liquid objects with corrosive or hazardous materials
- Loud objects such as emergency horns or alarms
All entries will be considered, but only finalists will be chosen by Square Enix and showcased on stage during Fan Festival
